Special consideration is given to students who were not able to perform at their best during an exam or assessment due to exceptional circumstances. This might be due to temporary injury, illness, indisposition or other unforeseen incident.

There have been some changes to the numbers in the Special Consideration in GCSE and A Level: Summer 2013 Exam Series (report published at 9.30am, 30th October 2013) following a revision of data from an awarding organisation.
